We got game!

Last weekend we got both sets of parents together so that we could all get to know each other a little better. It went very well and one of the things that we did together was meet with one our event planners to get the ball rolling on our rehearsal dinner.

Husband2be and I are both transplants to the DC-area. Because of this, almost our entire guest list consists of out-of-towners. To make their trips worth while, we are actual planning a whole weekend of activities starting with a rehearsal dinner at Dave & Busters.

Joe is the event planning manager and our contact at the Arundel Mills Dave & Busters. He gave us a lovely "grand tour" of the facilities and even comped us with fully LOADED game cards for us to get our skeeball and arcade fixes after we tried the food. We had a great time and are looking forward to returning with all of our wedding party and guests.

I don't know what the final cost of what we are doing is going to be but from what I gather so far, it's going to be kind of like a pre-game for a rehearsal. We are renting the largest room for a sit-down dinner and an open bar and then a private "VIP" room with three pool tables, four lanes at the bowling alley, and then loading some game cards for people to have some time in the arcade. The rental of the rooms is 1K or so with minimum food/drink limits that must be met to avoid additional surcharges. Husband2be's family will be taking care of the cost of all of this.

Definitely this is a different take than a lot of the rehearsal dinners I've gone to but I think it's going to be fun, relaxing, and perhaps even the highlight of the whole weekend for us and the guests. One of my maids of honor did her rehearsal dinner at ESPN Zone and she said it was one of the most fun things of the whole weekend.
