Happy Valentine's Day!

With the wedding fast approaching (less than 8 months!!!!), we're going to celebrate by making a low-key dinner at home. We can go all out for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple next year :o)

Soo...I've hit a wedding planning slump. Everything is becoming so time-consuming and it's disheartening to have to schedule even more meetings--since the first round of vendors aren't working out. It's hard to entrust your "vision" and hand over bundles of money to someone based on just a conversation and a handful of pictures. Am I the only one feeling this way? It was fairly easy for us to make decisions on venue, photographer, catering, my dress, the DJ, etc...but it's turning out to be much harder for the "smaller" vendors. Here's what I want to nail down in short order here at the 7.5 month mark (and yes, I know that we are still fairly ahead of the game):

-FLORIST!!!!
-makeup
-bridesmaid dresses
-honeymoon

I've met with a couple of florists, had a makeup trial, have no idea what the dresses will look like, and can't decide on a honeymoon destination. Awesome. So please, if you can recommend a florist or a makeup artist, shoot a comment my way!! I've come up with a general list of those popular on theknot, but no dice so far.

enough of this venting, no-picture entry. stay tuned for some how-to's on getting a tent for the big day!

Can't help with the florist recommendations but as far as makeup you should check out everyone listed on the DC Makeup spreadsheet I posted a while back

http://www.dcnearlyweds.com/2008/01/dc-hair-and-makeup-spreadsheet-cheat.html

I also likeed the lady who did the makeup for knottie Miss_Leah_Marie. You can see a pictures slideshow at the top of her bio http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/page.aspx?username=Miss_Leah_Marie

And this is the address of her makeup person http://www.myspace.com/rhondamakeup

Richard at Ulta in Rockville is AMAZING! He is going to be doing my wedding on 11/1/08. Tell him Chantal sent you and he might give you a break ;)

Ashley Riddle with Updos for I do's is AWESOME!!! Even Mrs. Nearlywed would vouch for her! She gives you a discount on trials but I didn't even have a trial and she still did a great job! check out her site - Updosforidos.com

She books up really fast though so definitely call her now.

Also, for the flowers, Mrs. Nearlywed is a great resource that I did not even think to tap into. She can help you find things that fit into your budget and figure out arrangements and things!

However if you get into a crunch, I went with ProFlowersWeddings.com and they were PHENOMONAL!!! I don't have any pictures of them but they looked just like what they looked like on the site, they were incredibly reasonable in price and they were so well packaged and of such high quality that even Mrs. Nearlywed said I lucked out! I wouldn't recommend just any online vendor for flowers but Proflowers is AWESOME.
