The Charcoal Gray Tux
My darling FI has yet to find and commit to a tux that he wants to wear for our wedding. He knows that he'd like to have his guys wear a standard 3-button black tux. However, he understandably does not wants to blend in with the attendants. So, he has decided to wear a charcoal gray tuxedo. Most of what we've come across have been in a stroller style, with contrasting jacket and pants. He wants a traditional cut, just in charcoal.
We don't mind purchasing the tux, but we've only come across them for rent. We've been told by a vendor that the one Ralph Lauren design we've come across (pictured above) has been discontinued, as new styles are to be added for 2009. However, we have no idea if those styles include a charcoal tux. The Ralph Lauren tux is from Jim's Formalwear. MW Tux/AfterHours does not have a matching grey tux. Does anyone know where one can find a charcoal tux for purchase or rent, or how we'd be able to tux designs for 2009?

If you can't find exactly what you want, what about getting a custom made tuxedo? The woman who runs a bridal salon I like in New York recommended Lord Willy's, a British tailor downtown, but I've also seen Alan David Custom in midtown recommended by Weddingbee. It will be a little spendy getting a custom tux, probably between $1000-$2000, but if you have the budget, it might not be a bad idea. And he'll definitely wear it again!
Thanks for the suggestion. That's great idea! I'll be sure to run it by the Mr.
I love the gray tux! I am even trying to convince my fiance to wear one for our wedding.
Go to Sarnotux.com and you will find a few grey tuxedos for rental for the Mr.
Once you find the one you want, put in your zip code and see which dealer is closest to you.
Mention that Terry from Sarno sent you.

I love the charcoal... I don't know where you can get it, but i had to stop and say, i LOVE the charcoal!
We got FI a custom tailored suit, but the tailor does tuxes as well. My hunch would be that the custom tux wouldn't be too much more than buying one, and you get to choose your fabric. Plus, he showed us a number of other nice touches that don't often come with off the rack clothes. I found him through an article in The Hill. His name is Jiwani, and he's based in Atlanta, but comes to DC for consultations (he does this in a few cities). We've received the slacks and jacket we ordered and their great, and the suit is ready to be picked up. I can't remember what we paid, but they gave the prices when we called, so you don't have to bother scheduling a consultation if it's out of your price range.
