A big weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I finally have a job as a new kindergarten teacher in Montgomery County :) This means that once my first paycheck comes in September FI and I can finally book our reception venue! However, that would probably require us to know exactly where we want that to be.
If you remember, I'm working on a teacher's salary and I would prefer to keep the whole ordeal under $15,000. Whether or not that will actually happen is up for debate, but I'm trying to be as low-cost as possible. Because of this, venue shopping has been quite difficult for me. I really don't want a typical hotel ballroom or a community centerr. I want a site that can provide me with an outdoor ceremony option, and either an indoor or outdoor reception space. Being in D.C, obviously an outdoor reception space would need a tent. I want something unique and beautiful, but I want it under $2,500. Is that too much to ask?
Before you offer suggestions, let me tell you I've already looked at the PG Parks and MoCo Parks, and I have a few options there (Snow Hill Manor, Billingsley House, Woodlawn Manor) but none that I love. So if you have any other suggestions? ...I'd love to hear them!

Pataspsco state Park, you can look here for pics under "Nicole &JOey July 11" http://meganbeth.com/blog/
we're getting married at savage mill manor in savage, md. it's about halfway between here and baltimore. our budget is even smaller (we'll probably come in around 11K). the venue is between $1000-1500 depending on the day/time. it's simple but pretty. not my first choice, but since we were trying to do it all in less than 9 months, my options were limited.
Have you considered Woodrow Wilson House? It's on the smaller side (100 or less) but it's a great deal in a great location.
Hi! Good luck! I am going to be following your blog because it sounds like we're in exactly the same boat. You can check out my progress at twodcluvbirds.blogspot.com
