All dressed up with some place pretty important to go
This is what I'll be wearing on my wedding day.

I got it from David's Bridal and it's nothing like what I thought I wanted - that being something more form fitting and less princess-y. Honestly though? I love the dress. I really do. When I put it on with the veil and looked in the mirror, it was an amazing moment. Both my mother and my grandmother couldn't help but well up with tears when they saw me. :) And I know that my husband2Be is going to love it as well based on the reactions from my dad and both of my older brothers (who usually never have anything good to say unless it's snarky and silly).
I still need to get it fitted and won't be doing that until February but there's not too much that needs to be done to it other than getting it shortened, bustled (it will be an under bustle), and fitted in through the bodice.
The veil I am wearing is also from David's Bridal and has matching lace detailing of the same design as the dress. Total cost for everything (including the merrywidow and skirt slip) without alterations was just about $1000. Pretty good and it exactly met our budget! I WILL be getting another dress for the reception (a traditional Vietnamese wedding Ao Dai - I'll show a picture of that another time) but that will only be another $100 or so.
Additionally, I know that there is a lot of divided opinion about David's Bridal but I can honestly say that despite all of the bad things I've heard, I had a great experience. Surely a lot of that had to do with the consultant that I managed to be paired up with but I don't feel like my experience was any less wonderful without all of the extras that upscale bridal salons would have provided. I had a great time and so did my mom and grandmother. I definitely recommend going to David's Bridal. Just be sure (as with any place) to make an appointment before you go. :)

Isn't it a relief to get the dress taken care of? Congrats...and 1,000 for everything is such a great deal. I agree that people's opinions matter somewhat in regards to dress stores but so much is individual and who you happen to work with that day.
Can't wait to see the Ao Dai...they are so beautiful.
