Fantastic Charlottesville Vendors

I was down in C-Ville for a few days this weekend, and took advantage of the time to scout out a few vendors and wedding ideas for next September.

First up: Cappellino's Crazy Cakes, an amazing new bakery right off the Downtown Mall next to our local pool hall, Rapture.

Full disclosure: Dottie, the co-owner of Cappellino's, is my dad's former co-worker, who set out on her own with her brother Frank to bake cakes and cupcakes full time (That's the way Charlottesville is--everybody knows everybody else).  But her cupcakes are INCREDIBLE.  Look at how beautiful they are:

These cakes give most of the cupcake bakeries in NYC a run for their money.  The icing is light, flavorful, and not too sweet, and it's well balanced by the moist cake.  If you like cupcakes, these really are awesome and come in a wide variety of flavors.  They do cookies as well--the best cookies in town, in my opinion--and they also do wedding cakes.

Another great shop I found right off the Downtown Mall is Rock Paper Scissors, a stationery store with a beautiful line of custom wedding invitations.

They had all the beautiful and high end lines of wedding stationery like Oblation Press, Peculiar Pair Press, Page Stationery--but they also have a graphic artist on hand who can work with you to create something that's your own.  Plus they couldn't be sweeter.  They're on Second Street NE, just beyond the fountain on the Downtown Mall.

I ordered my wedding cake from Cappellino's Crazy Cakes! Frank's sugar-flowers are simply amazing and beautiful. Plus, the cake flavors and filling options are beyond yummy. I cannot wait to see (and taste) it!
