Engagment Announcment...

Call me old fashion, I know that reading the paper is going "out of style" the Internet and CNN.com are the new waves of the future, but I was really excited when my mom told me she had paid for FI and I to have a wedding announcement in our Rochester , NY newspaper!

Growing up, I loved looking at the different announcements, it all seemed so romantic to me!

This morning while checking my email at work I was surprised to see my Engagement Announcement was awaiting me :) Since our Rochester newspaper doesn't distribute to D.C my brothers scanned it and sent me a copy! ( we have hard copies waiting for us in NY). I really think the engagement announcement just made it "real" seeing it there in black and white! I have it posted up in my office right now, and i get all giddy every time I look at it :)

Have any of you other brides posted an engagement announcement? FI and I are debating if we should post in the Washington post...if you are thinking of doing that here is the link!

There's also a free paper distributed in the DC area - not sure what it's called but I always see copies on the metro to read (kind of like the city paper?) you can also post your engagement/wedding announcement there for FREE! it's more non-traditional and has a sort of Q & A kind of set-up instead but it's still cute and fun for people who want to see themselves in print! :)

My fiance's mother, who lives in Philly, placed an engagement announcement in Philly's Jewish Exponent, and my mother placed one in our local newspaper... I know my mother always likes finding the engagement announcements of people I went to high school with but no longer keep in touch, so I'm sure she figured that other people's mothers enjoy the same thing!

Perhaps Miss Bowie is talking about The Express? When I used to Metro commute, I think I remember they did a Q&A type thing.
